Third Time Lucky Sculpture No. 1 in the MATCH Series

The first of a series of MATCH sculptures exploring the interconnected notions of love, violence, war, peace, creation and enlightenment — the humble matchstick as an object, simple in form yet able to serve a function as a source of fire while also being personified in its narrow shape with a rounded top. “Third Time Lucky” is the first work in this series, inspired by a tarot-card reading and its line: “you will love three times, and the third will be for life.” The piece explores love — past, present and future — as something that resists a single fixed narrative.
